GiVE NOLA DAY

Vieux Carre Property Owners, Residents, and Associates

About this Organization

VCPORA is a member-supported organization that has sought to protect and preserve the residential vibrancy of the historic French Quarter since our founding in 1938. We work with other organizations, non-profits, and all levels of government to advocate on issues of zoning and land use, architecture and infrastructure, sustainable tourism, expanding residential opportunities, and improving quality of life. Some of the big issues we have been working on in recent years include: short-term rental regulations, zoning violations, 5G cell towers, bicycle & pedestrian safety, and riverfront access. Every day, VCPORA monitors the roughly 4,000 buildings in the Vieux Carré for renovation, demolition by neglect, rezoning, change of use, or other alterations. Every month, we attend meetings of the City Council, NOPD, Vieux Carré Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustments, City Planning Commission, Historic District Landmarks Commission, Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, and French Quarter Management District. Every week we field dozens of calls from residents about quality-of-life issues ranging from trash pick-up to graffiti to crime to missing streetlights, broken sidewalks, and utility.
