What is a Fundraiser?

Are you interested in supporting local nonprofits for GiveNOLA Day-and asking others to support it? If so, follow the simple instructions below to create a "peer-to-peer" fundraising campaign, where you can invite your "peers" (friends, family, colleagues) to join you in donating to your organization of choice!

How to create a Fundraiser:

Step 1: Choose an organization to support

Find your favorite nonprofit using the website's search function. From the nonprofit's page, click the "Create a Fundraiser" button.


If you cannot find your favorite nonprofit, they have not registered to participate in GiveNOLA Day. Check back at a later date or contact the nonprofit to confirm participation.

Step 2: Submit & Create your Fundraiser Login

Don't have a Fundraiser profile? Click "Sign Up" and create your account. Once your account is set up, your Fundraiser is automatically published.

Step 3: Personalize your Fundraiser

Use the editing tool on the left side to personalize your Fundraiser Title, Goal, and Profile Image. Be sure to share why the organization's work is so inspiring and meaningful to you!

Step 4: Share your Fundraiser to help your cause!

Fundraisers are only successful when they're shared! Copy your Fundraiser's unique URL to share with family, friends, and others in your network through text message, email, or social media.

  • Why is it important to support nonprofits by starting a Fundraiser page?

    Starting a fundraiser page is a powerful way to amplify your impact, rallying friends, family, and colleagues to support causes that matter. Your efforts can create a ripple effect, expanding the reach and resources of these organizations, and driving even more positive change in New Orleans.

  • When can people begin giving to my Fundraiser?

    People can give to your Fundraiser once early giving begins on April 29th.

  • Will I be notified when someone makes a donation to my Fundraiser?

    Yes! Yes, you will recieve an email that tells you when a donation is made to your Fundraiser and the donor's information unless they have chosen to give anonymously.

  • Can I create more than one Fundraiser?

    Yes, but we recommend you choose one or two nonprofits to focus your efforts on.

  • How will the donations I raise through my Fundraiser get to the nonprofit?

    Your Community Foundation will disperse funds raised from GiveNOLA Day and distribute it to participating nonprofits after the event.

  • What are some best practices for Fundraising?

    To make your peer-to-peer fundraiser page successful, start by sharing a personal story about why this cause is important to you—people are more likely to donate when they see the impact through your eyes. Once your page is live, spread the word by sharing the link as widely as possible. Sending a direct text message to friends and family is often the most effective, but don't forget to leverage email and social media to reach an even broader audience.
