Urban Impact Ministries

About this Organization

UIM has operated since 1989 and offers annual programs to children, youth, and families in Central City that boost educational outcomes, provide safe gathering spaces, and offer mentoring, workforce training, healthy food options, and housing for our neighbors.

We seek to provide opportunities to keep our neighbors safe, engaged, and connected as a community. Our programs serve about 350 people each year:
- Leadership Development: on-the-job, paid employment training for 16-22 year-olds.
- Summer Camp: six weeks of free day camp for children ages 6-11, who receive structured Bible lessons, mentoring, crafts, recreation, and snacks, with transportation.
- Summer trips: high schoolers attend camps and conferences, offering exposure to new places and experiences outside of the city.
- After-school tutoring: homework help and mentoring for elementary and middle school students.
- Youth Bible Studies: weekly Bible Study and recreation nights for middle school and high school students.
- Open Court: throughout the year, UIM offers recreational sports programming two evenings each week, offering a safe place to play.
- Compassion Ministry: monthly food distribution to families.
