Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans
About this Organization
The PRC is New Orleans' premier nonprofit focused on the preservation and revitalization of our city's historic architecture and neighborhoods. The PRC celebrates the cultural heritage of the people who bring our buildings and communities to life.
PRC restores.
Since 1974, the PRC has renovated more than 1,500 buildings, helping to restore historic neighborhoods. In 2024, PRC completed the restoration of the 1820s Perseverance Hall in Tremé.
PRC revitalizes.
The PRC offers classes and programs to teach hands-on information for renovating historic buildings, maintaining old houses in New Orleans, and more. It provides funding for home repairs to help low-income homeowners, helping to keep generational homeowners in place and neighborhoods intact.
PRC preserves New Orleans' authenticity.
With the addition of Save Our Cemeteries in early 2025, PRC continues the work of preserving the city's iconic historic cemeteries. We hold more than 140 easements on significant buildings across the state, ensuring their protection forever. And we advocate against unnecessary demolition of historic buildings and for policies that enhance quality of life in historic neighborhoods.
