New Orleans Food Policy Action Council
About this Organization
FPAC is a broad-based coalition of individuals, businesses and organizations shaping public policy to improve equity, opportunity and collaboration in the local food system. This work is done through programming, advocacy and working groups. We currently have 4 working groups with specific priorities related to food policy (food business development, seafood, food access, and climate and disaster), as well as assist with FPAC shared priorities. Working Groups meet bi-monthly and are led by FPAC members. Currently, FPAC has over 30 member organizations, businesses and individuals.
FPAC's food access programming includes Farm to Early Care and Education- ensuring children ages 0-5 have access to fresh, healthy, local food. Our Senior SNAP outreach programming helps New Orleans area elders access healthy food through food access programming and assistance with SNAP enrollment.
FPAC has worked with local, state and national organizations, policymakers, schools, and community programs to advocate for sound food policy, equitable recovery, as well as education on the ever-changing recovery and assistance policies.
