*Kid City provides tutoring two afternoons a week to elementary students throughout the school year. Quest meets weekly for tutoring and mentoring of middle schoolers. Quest kids also participate in service projects and field trips. By offering both remedial and enrichment activities, we ensure that our students feel more confident in their abilities and stay engaged in learning. *Teenagers participate in Possibilities, a career/college prep program that meets monthly. This mentoring program is a critical component. A typical session centers on a topic designed to expose teens to career opportunities, job readiness skills, college or skilled labor prep, personal growth or self-care, or community awareness. These topics are explored through guest speakers, hands-on experiences, field trips and group discussions. Biannually, this group takes an overnight trip to visit college campuses and explore areas of historic importance to the children we serve. Past trips included time in Birmingham exploring civil rights sites, Lafayette understanding the Acadian diaspora, and in Houston experiencing STEM opportunities.
