City Year New Orleans is changing public school students' lives! City Year focuses on helping public school students graduate from high school, ready for college and career success. Our motivated AmeriCorps members commit to a year of service within the New Orleans Public Schools system: providing teacher support, mentoring and tutoring and assisting with extracurricular activities. City Year's model and approach focuses on student success, college and career preparation and is centered on the idea that young people can change the world. We place highly-trained, full-time young adults in schools to provide critical individual attention to struggling students, and our research shows that it's working. Students' learning improves, daily school attendance increases, and test scores go up. When committing to a year of service, our members play a unique role in supporting students and schools: tutoring, mentoring, coaching and cheering on students all day and every day!
