The Early Learning Center (ELC) has operated for over 50 years in Algiers and has students from throughout the Greater New Orleans area. The ELC offers a half day Christian Pre-school Developmental Program for 1 - 4 year old students. Various topics are introduced during the year through reading, dramatic play, art, movement, music and other creative methods. Classroom activities are supplemented with a weekly chapel service, a music class and a variety of outside resources. The curriculum is based on sound principles regarding brain development, mastery orientation, emotional well-being and spiritual growth. The ELC adopts the educational philosophy that play, through age-appropriate activities in a child-paced environment, is the best method of learning in early childhood and forms the strongest foundation for later academic achievement.
