GiVE NOLA DAY

Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center

About this Organization

The Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center (LaFHAC) is a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to eradicating housing discrimination and ensuring equitable housing opportunities for all. Since its founding in 1995, LaFHAC has led the fight for fair housing in Louisiana by providing direct services, legal advocacy, policy change, and community education. Through rigorous enforcement of fair housing laws, LaFHAC investigates complaints of discrimination, assists clients in filing legal claims, and has successfully litigated landmark cases that have strengthened housing protections. Our education and outreach initiatives empower renters, homeowners, and housing providers with the knowledge to recognize and combat discrimination. LaFHAC also drives systemic change through policy advocacy, securing critical protections for tenants, advancing fair lending practices, and addressing environmental justice issues that disproportionately impact low-income and BIPOC communities. Our impact is statewide, ensuring that vulnerable communities-including Black families, people with disabilities, and survivors of domestic violence-have access to safe and discrimination-free housing.
