GiVE NOLA DAY

Archbishop Chapelle High School

About this Organization

In 1962 on a plot of land adjacent to the water tower on the newly created Veterans Memorial Boulevard, five sisters from the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and four lay teachers welcomed 236 freshman students to Archbishop Chapelle High School. Those religious pioneers resided in the now aptly nicknamed "Round Building" and went on to plant the seeds of the mission of Chapelle. In its more modern iterations, the "Round Building" has housed various administrative offices, the Al Murphy conference room, lively art studios for students, a beloved day care, wondrous stairwell artwork, and a Chapel has provided solace under the warm glow of its stained glass. Today, as we focus on what makes Chapelle truly special, we know it is time to honor our past and put faith in our future. The "Round Building" will soon be rebuilt into Incarnate Word Hall, the home of spirituality on campus. The Theology Department will have six new dedicated classrooms, allowing faculty to collaborate and educate like never before, and the newly constructed Chapel will be large enough to seat an entire grade level.
