Founded in 2020, Blue Krewe is a New Orleans-based non-profit that operates Blue Bikes-the city's own bikeshare program. Formed by local bikeshare enthusiasts, including former Blue Bikes staff, biking and pedestrian advocates, philanthropists, and healthcare champions, Blue Krewe is committed to providing affordable, healthy, and sustainable transportation uniquely designed for New Orleans. In August 2021, Blue Krewe relaunched Blue Bikes with a fleet of 504 pedal-assist e-bikes, making it easier than ever to navigate the city. Thanks to support from our title sponsor, Louisiana Blue, and in partnership with the City of New Orleans, Blue Bikes has grown rapidly-riders have taken over 829,000 trips since relaunch, with the majority of rides taken by locals, proving Blue Bikes is a true transportation solution for New Orleans.
