About this Organization

The Algiers Historical Society (AHS) monthly meetings are held at the Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Dr. Algiers, La. 70131 That is on the west bank of New Orleans. AHS meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, unless otherwise noted. Please refer to the AHS website for further details. We have a featured speakers, engaging topics and a powerpoint presentations. We have held monthly meetings for 25 years. All AHS meetings are free and open to the public and media. AHS volunteer presenters speak on genealogy, local history, family stories, lost memories - renewed, architecture and all facets of life in Algiers and other west bank communities & the metro area, in general, past and present. All speakers volunteer their time be they university presidents & professors, librarians, archivists or special collection curators, lawyers, museum & cultural center directors from other nonprofits or retired/active business professionals. AHS meetings: These events are not affiliated with or endorsed by the New Orleans Public Library. The AHS quarterly 24+ page e-newsletter, The Algerine, has been published every March, June, September & December
